A merchant with great love for what she does And for the people around her
She was born in Ponce Puerto Rico on September 28, 1965. She was raised in the “Todos Restaurant” in the town of Juana Díaz where her parents Jaime Torres and María Iluminada Muñoz owned for more than 15 years. Brenda is an only daughter with two older brothers Jaime Torres Jr. and Rigoberto Torres. During her childhood Brenda learned not only how to run a business, but also how to contribute to her people and her community. In her teens, she participated as a volunteer in the Maví festival and was president of her graduating class. Her parents later settled in New Britain Connecticut where they worked as restaurant workers. But as Brenda inherited the love of business...and as the saying goes "What is inherited is not stolen" she immediately saw the need of the Puerto Rican community to have a place where they could consume and enjoy authentic dishes of delicious traditional Puerto Rican food. The beginnings of Restaurant Criollísimo date back to the early 1990s at 340 Arch Street in the town of New Britain and 25 years later it is still in the same place and stronger than ever: “Here I started selling sandwiches in a super small space - says Brenda. Now, 25 years later, I can proudly say that: "Restaurant Criollísimo has not only grown in space but also in quality to the point that we have had the visit of governors and famous figures, who have pleasantly given us their positive comments. "Over the years, Brenda is always waiting for suggestions and comments to improve the attention of her visitors.
Those who have arrived at the Criollísimo Restaurant can enjoy the comforts it offers, the cleanliness of its products and above all, the welcoming smile with which Brenda and her staff greet their customers. Which undoubtedly makes the public feel very comfortable, like at home. Now, if we add to this its cheap prices and the fresh ingredients it uses, your visit can be very profitable, both for your pocket and for your palate. All those who have visited their premises located in the heart of New Britain can attest to this. Finally, the restaurant has a large parking lot. We believe that ultimately the secret of its success is in customer service and that is the most important thing in your business. For all these reasons, the Criollísimo has received various awards throughout its quarter century of service. In 2007 and 2014, it received the award for the best Puerto Rican food restaurant in Connecticut. Brenda is a person who has not separated herself from her Hispanic roots and has always been linked to her community, participating and helping according to her possibilities. Since the beginning of her activities with the restaurant, in 1990, she has always kept in touch with her people, attending social celebrations in the area, cultural events at universities and in any activity in which her services have been required. On the other hand, it is good to mention that Brenda Torres 2015 has been nominated to receive great public recognition in this Puerto Rican Parade and the Hartford Coquí Festival for her constant support and help to the community.
